Hi,
It sounds like maybe he was disbudded at a bit older age. If I let my wethers get a little old, like 3-4 weeks their horns are starting to poke up through their hair already.When I burn it does not take all the horn bud off, but if I do it correctly it does kill the bud and eventually it does fall off. If you burn them younger you can get the bud right down to their skull. So it sounds like he had quite a big horn and that is why it broke through to the sinus cavity and yes it will heal. How does his other horn bud look? Does it feel loose? I imagine it hurt when he knocked the one off.
