Hi Kerrie,Linda mentioned to me that moldy hay or diet change causes listerosis which is why we were puzzled. Wattles had been in the goatpasture with the rest of the herd eating fresh brouse,no hay in the field, just grass, multi floria, which they love, and other brouse. We thought about menningeal(sp)worms since we have deer on the farm however, the vet and I discussed the fact that we have a 6 ft. -8 wire electric fence surrounding the goat pastures, yes the deer could easily jump it,but why would they when they are busy in the area surrounding the pastures eating the 100 acres of corn and soybeans we are hoping to harvest. We have never seen them in the pastures but always find them munching down on our corn or beans. Wattles had no diet change at the time she went down. Hope our vet gets back next week so we can get the meds suggested,he is not a goat vet,but he has years of other farm animals and he is about all we have here, except "pet"vets. Gloria
