Great post Linda! Take the bucks sheath between your fingers and roll it, if you feel crystals or dried sand, it is probably UC. If you aren't able to control his diet, and honestly even if you are you need to give him Ammonium Chloride each day. It probably already is in his goat feed, but since he isn't eating enough of it his urine isn't being kept acidified. You could also put a teaspoon of AC in the horses sweet feed, won't hurt the horse. Right now you need to get some and drench him with it, about 1 tablespoon every 12 hours. If he becomes totally blocked you will have to deal with a very expensive operation, which will leave him sterile and peeing like a doe, and which then can cause bladder infections and urine scald on his rear legs. Or putting him down. If the bladder bursts he will stop being in pain, appear to be back to normal, though he will die from septic posioning. Goatworld carries AC. Definetly something to keep on hand for anybody who has male goats. Vicki
