I have an OT question for anyone who has cows and calves out there. I am sorry I just can't find a good cow board anywhere (smile).
We usually get bottle fed calves, and usually the ones that either are hurt or loose their mothers from my husband's uncle. They have this one cow who gave birth not too long ago and is having problems w/her udders. The milk is not coming thru, her bag is huge, and her milk is all clumpy. When my son is out there working during the day he will go out (per my husband's uncles instructions) to try and drain her teet in order to let the calf nurse.
Now they have been doing cattle for years and years..and their mother before that...I guess they never came across this before. My son keeps going over and bottle feeding the calf, I know nothing about full grown cows, but know enough to know this is not right. I told Todd to tell them we need to bring the calf here and take care of it. Todd told them and they agree, but I am curious if anyone knows what this is. I would think the milk would endanger the calf as well no?? It is a bull calf.
