I am taking care of the goats at the school this week, and wouldn't you know, the houseparent's child's pygmy doe kidded for the first time sometime between Friday and Sunday am. I have been watching closely, and the kid does nurse. Mom is not the best as far as caring for the kid though. She did clean him and lets him nurse, but he kid hangs out in the shelter alone. Today I noticed really yucky yellow scours. I know this is normal in the first few days to an extent, but is seems excessive. Also, since it is a young boys pet, I am extremely concerned that I care for it well. What do I do? Thanks for your help. I am out of practice on the practical goat husbandry techniques.
