About a week ago some of my goats started showing signs for sore mouth. I tried to quarinten them but it ened up that I got so many goat to get it that I just decided to put them back out since I couldnt support that many goats with sore mouth and keep them away from the ones I have up for show. I have decided to just keep an eye on them and make sure they are still eating and drinking and hope that they get over it. I have heard that if they have it once, it is like chicken pox and they never get it again, is this true? I have ordered the preventive from Jeffers to gie to the ones that dont have it right now, also it said if you give it to the ones that have it it will help it dry up faster. After they all get over it I am going to move them off of the pasture they are on now. How long sould it take before I can put them back on it? The main thing that is bothering me about this is that I have no idea how they got it. Most of my goats I have had for at least two months, and the ones that broke out first were ones that I have had since May. I did have about three goats that had sore mouth but that was back in March and they have been long healed, so I figured if it was becouse of them they would have broking out earlier, so I am not sure if I can blame it on them yet. Non of my goats have been in the stall that I had qurintined them in, or near it. The two youngest that I have I am trying to help clear it up by spreading iodine on the sores to help dry it up, becouse I would like for them to be ready in time for a show I have them entered in. :( If any of you can give me any help or have comment on the subject please post or e-mail me. Thanks alot!
Anna
