I am new to this, so not sure my two cents is really worth anything, but my thoughts are that you really don't know what you are getting at an auction. Think about it, why do people sell at an auction? Why are they trying to get rid of these goats this way instead of trying to sell them privatly?

We have gotten a few from auction, these are not our full or pure bloods, and to tell you the truth, these are the goats that we are ceriously considering getting rid of. They do not co operate, We have to chase them down all the time, and they run as soon as you try and get near them. Personally this is not the type of animal we want. But as I said, we are new to this, and I guess that is the only way you can learn.

There is such a huge difference in our bottle feds and the goats we have gotten from breeders. You can tell which ones are the ones we got from the auctions because they are the ones that are always getting out, they find a way and we still can't figure out how they do it (smile)...

These are animals that were not raised with human hands and were skittish from day one. No one really paid attention to them. Now some of them we were able to hand feed and they did get used to us, but it was a lot of work, and ultimatly they still get out on occasion.

That is just my opinion, please someone correct me if I am wrong.
