I use the Ivomec injectible (1% for cattle and swine) giving 2cc per 100 lbs orally and 1cc per 110 lbs SQ. I'd learned that the SQ injection would take care of lice, etc. but would do nothing for the internal worms and vice versa. I'd often wondered about giving both at the same time and then while going through the forum one day I saw Vicki's post that she had given it all at the once. So, I tried it. And guess what! Works like a charm!
Since there has been (up to now...hopefully it's getting better) very little research done for goats most of the products we have to use aren't labeled for use in goats. The reasoning behind doubling (and even tripling) the dosage of these products is because the goat's metabolism is so much faster than other ruminants. If given according to label directions it passes through so fast it does little, if any good.
It all scared me at first too but since I've come to trust info from certain people (like Vicki and Bernice to mention just two!) my girls are looking pretty darned good!
