Keep in mind that sunflower seeds are loaded with fat. A pet goat doesn't need extra fat, he's not working. Proper menieral supplementation will keep his coat and skin in good shape. Zinc and copper are the most important for healthy skin. Most wethers do fine on a diet of good quality grass hay, browse, and a loose mineral mix for goats. Overfeeding grain or concentrated food of any kind (such as sunflower seeds) can be a main contributing factor in Urinary Calculi disease. I tried feeding sunflower seeds to my show goats for several years with pretty good results in the hair and skin department but when I gave them a more suitable mineral supplement and discontinued the sunflower seeds (even my breeding does got too fat on them) they really started to glow.
