I am not Karen, but couldn't resist adding my free 2 cents worth. I would start him off on a quart four times a day and gradually increase as you see him tolerating it. Obviously he wasn't get that much from mama! I wish we lived close, my brother sells his cow milk for a buck a gallon and that would be great for the calf. Sounds to me like the mama cow needs to be culled. That sounds mean, but if they aren't going to take care of her, she won't be able to raise any more calves anyhow. That last advice wasn't asked for I know, but just my humble opinion. I have a goat right now that is doing the same. I am thinking she has CAE as her udder is huge and hard, but no milk, or very little. I am supplementing the babies but this is not fun because the babies love their mama, but she doesn't have enough milk!
