Hi Dalice,
I've had two dogs with hot spots (red, open areas that occur from dogs licking, and licking, and licking the same area-usually due to some type of allergy). I eventually discovered that both dogs were allergic to flea bites. At least that was what my diagnosis was. Once I started using Frontline plus on a monthly basis during the "flea season" neither of them have been bothered since. I also stopped all milk products on both dogs.(I think I read somewhere where that could be the cause)-they used to drink the leftover milk each morning from the kids cereal. Both of my dogs were put on prednisone at various times, and it cleared the current rash, but did not prevent them from getting another one when they were exposed to the allergen. So anyway, that's my two cents. And by the way, I never saw a flea on the dogs, but they must have been there. Those fleas are sneaky creatures. Good luck..let me know how you make out.
