Hi Kimberly,
I read somewhere along the way, that if you pull on the ear of an uncooperating goat, it will follow just to get you to stop pulling it's ear. I've been using this technique, and surprising, it works. Melvin thinks that when the gate is opened, he can leave. Well, I grab his ear as he slips by, and he's very cooperative then. He's a nubian cross, but now, what would you do for a LaMancha? When I grab his chain, he fights me, and starts the gag thing. I've also been told, that if your goat has a beard, use it too. They will follow just to get you to stop pulling on it. I guess it's the same with humans. Also, try the feed pail as a bribe--or a treat. They do soon learn.
