My kids just got two goat to show this year for FFA. ( last year we showed pigs ) The man we got them from was telling us how he trains them to walk with a leash. He said that he pulls them around the yard until they stand up and walk. He said sometimes it takes ten or more times before they get the idea and start waking on their own. At the time when he was telling us this I didn't think much about it. I guess I just thought that we would have no problems!!! Thats a big laugh!!!! And I mean a big one!!!! My daughters goat doesn't fall down but just continues to pull against you. But my daughter is able to get him to walk some.
But my sons falls down and start to gag!!!! This is killing me and it makes me sick to watch and I have to kept myself from crying. My husband says that I need to just stay in the house while they are doing this and in about a week they will have them trained. I am just worried that they are hurting the little guys throat. The guy that we got them from said that there is no way that you can hurt a goat.
All my goats are pets and I have never had to worry about his before. If there is anyone that can help me with this please do!!!
I was going to call the man and tell him that my sons is gaging when you pull him but my husband says that he will just laugh at me.
See I cried for a week when the pig had to go to slaughter. And everyone thought that I was crazy!!!!!!
