It looked like the board could use another humorous story, or else I really have some pretty bad luck. HHMMMMM.
I walked into my barn this evening and said hi to all the critters, and all the does. Everything was normal except for my "henny penny" golden hen that was running amuck hackling away at me. I threw her a handful of layer pellets and she quieted down for a few moments. I went to my truck to get some bags of grain, dumped them in my bins and then said hi to my milker with a handful... and then... I noticed..
Mr. Pepe' Le' PEW!!!! was hiding under her hay feeder 1/2 under my milkstand... just watching me!!!! AUGH... Take note I have a santioned show in less then a week and my show girls were in the line of fire... or stink anyway. How the hell was I to milk with the stink bomb underfoot!!!
This skunk has been a pest for quite some time. He's been in the coop eating eggs, and god only knows how many chickens' he's munched on. I've been waiting to be sprayed for so long.... and expected it tonight.
Well... I had my father come to the barn to help me figure out this dilema. The damn skunk would NOT leave. I threw everything at him... he just sat there happy.. I sware.. smiling at me. My poor hen was running around hackling again. Finally I evacuate my show goats outside and leave my dad inside with a 12' metal pipe and the stubborn skunk. I think that the 32 would have been a better choice but concrete floors and that arn't a good combo, and we didn't have the bow and arrows handy. I heard a few things banging around, and then smell the battle from outside. I guess the little stinker got a good wack, and lost some fur.. but made a get-a-way.. Darn!
Any advice on how to get Mr. Pepe' Le' PEW to go bye bye? I tried to feed him some Decon, but guess he dosn't like it. I'm moving all hiding places this week. We may barrow a have a heart trap but that and a skunk can be.. well.. fun.. (did that about a year ago.. talk about fighting on who goes and checks the trap the next day!). If we can catch the bugger outside he's gonna eat lead but if we can't !?Any suggestions??!!
Thanks a bunch!
