Frank,good goat vets are hard to find - at least in our part of the country. I had a similar situation just last week.
I use 2 different vets, one I trust, one I need to use for emergencies because my main vet is quite a distance.
Vet #2 is always recommending dosages that are way too high and does internals like he's checking a cow - just rams his arm inside after dousing it with ice cold water! He never saw a goat penis until he came to our farm the other year and he's not a young vet. But, when your desperate...
What I do is consult with my #1 vet and tell the other vet what to do or what I need. I also search the internet for answers and bookmark the best sites.
I know the frustration your experiencing! I NEVER give penicillin IM and don't know any goat people that do.
