If my husband read this he would be right up there with you. At his job they have Columbus Day off, but not MLK day he gets mad because Columbus probably caused some of the problems that this country has had from the beginning and we celebrate that. But MLK tried to fix those problems and as you said only a few are priveleged. I used to work retail and had to work every holiday except for Christmas and Thanksgiving. I really dispised working Independence Day, that felt like the day that we should have all been free from work and day to day things to celebrate our country. But we have done some of these things to ourselves by demanding more convienent services and hours at businesses. I wish things would go back to how they used to be things closing early on Saturday and Sunday, I think our priorties would change with no mall to go to.
