hi mary, ihave about 40 goats,and have never seperated them at birthing. the moms find thier favorite spot and run off all intruders.my buck is hugh and knows his place well.I
live in very cold country.I am so lucky to have a small trailor to take the moms into if they seem to be haveing trouble.It has heat, lights and hot water.A real GOD send.When mom is in labor the other goats know to leave her alone.Hope I helped.
