You need to give Goat Nutri-Drench right away. I would give 6-8cc now than drop to 4cc every 8 hours or if goat is bad off sooner. You need to give LA-200 also. That is the pest for Pneumonia. I hope your goat makes it. We were able to save 6 this spring when we got hit with Pneumonia.

Vickie,
The best advice I can give is to keep up with the course of treatment and watch for signs of dehydration. We lost a 6 week old doe kid to pneumonia because we stopped treating too soon and she relapsed. We did save her twin and another kid. The twin got very dehydrated, to the point she was constipated. She stopped nursing and would just stand with her back hunched up looking miserable. We gave her a Fleets baby enema and drenched her with 15cc of electrolyte solution to get her going again. Once she was able to poop, she felt better and started nursing again. She is fine now, in fact, she took 2nd place in her class at a recent boer goat show!

If he has not eaten you need to tube feed with milk or give him something for energy, such as magic solution (1 part molasses, 1 part veg oil, 2 parts karo syrup, mix with a bit of warm water to thin it) give 5 to 7 cc or so. He may also need to be hydrated, give water or milk. The lower than normal temp indicates shock, or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). When a goat this young has very low blood sugar they can die, they just simply run out of fuel. Warm him up on a heating pad but be careful as this can contribute to dehydration.

Have a 8 wk old baby goat with pneumonia. Took
him to the vet this morning, and he's breathing
is becoming more shallow. The vet is giving him
antibotics, also gave him a shot of latex this
morning. Temp is below normal. He is partially
blind, and has become part of the family.
Any suggestions???
