Many goats will pant if it is warm and they have been active and when they are in the last stages of pregnancy. They have very little lung capacity to start with and when they are full of kids they have even less. If she is short bodied or a bit overweight this will increase the likelihood of her panting or breathing very fast in her condition. If she is eating and drinking okay, she is okay.

We have a yearling doe about ready to deliver next week. She came in the other night and was panting. No temp, no swelling and eating fine. We gave her a calcium tablet, molasses and probiotics per another site in case it was ketosis. She was fine in the AM. Now last night she started again. No other symptoms still. Any ideas? I dont want to risk her health but I hate to run to the vet particularly after hrs with no other presenting symptoms if this jumps out to anyone as being alright.
