If the doe is passing or has passed the placenta she is likely done kidding (this is the case 99 percent of the time). But put on a glove, lube up and go in to see if another kid is stuck. It shouldn't be more than 10 or 15 minutes between kids. If it is longer than that the doe is in trouble. Some does don't like to do much nursing until all the kids are born but they will lick and nuzzle the kid, but the kid that is already here is running out of time. Yes you should hold the doe to let the kid nurse as much as it wants. You should do this every 45 minutes to an hour (more often if you can!) for the first 6 hours or so to be sure the kid gets enough colostrum. Or milk all of the colstrum out and tube or bottle feed the kids. Do not microwave colostrum to warm it up, it turns to a pudding like consistancy and is useless. After the kid(s) have 4 to 8 ounces of colostrum you can take the kid(s) and put them on a bottle if she still refuses to take care of them herself. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
