This is probably coccidia an internal parasite. The best treatment is to give an oral sulfa drug for 5 days. Most feed stores carry either Sulmet or Albon 12.5% Drinking water solution (in a gallon jug usually). It is labeled for use with poultry and cattle. You would give this straight from the bottle at 1 cc per 5 pounds once a day by oral drench for 5 straight days. If you miss a day start over. Treat his sister too. This parasite can kill very quickly please start treatment today. Small animal vets use Albon to deworm puppies, if you can't find the drinking water solution get some Albon puppy wormer from your dog and cat vet. DO NOT USE CORID, it is not very effective anymore and can cause goat polio a severe neurological condition. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I have a 12 week old male pigmy, still intact, who is undersized. both he and his sister were born to an undersized doe, but all have always been very healthy. he has always eaten pellets and hay with no problems, but shows little interest in grean fodder. a couple days ago, he lost interest in the pellets, which he used to lovem and would only take milk replacer, which he had never liked previously. up until today, he has had solid stool, but has started to distance himself from the rest of the heard. when I came home from work today, he had had obvious diarrhea that has become a green runny mess. is this worm, or something worse? what do I do? he's just like a little puppy who follows us everywhere, we are scraed of loosing him. if anyone can help, please advise. |
