Have you tried Scour Halt? It is effective against both e coli and salmonella. Follow the instructions for piglets and then repopulate the gut with a probiotic or yogurt. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

hi maggie. thanks for your reply. I should explain, the goaterade is a livestock solution I have used for ten years. pig spectrum isnt touching it. pepto isnt iether. this is a odd one. we raise about 5to600 on the bottle and have never had this particular color or reaction to all that i am used to using. i use the whole milk solution for all. and i hand feed everyone for the first 3 days until i know there all eating free choice well. anymore suggestions about this green-white scour that i might not have tried. no fever. i hate to use antibiotic unless absolutly needed. what do you think we are going on day 3 i keep them hydrated but i dont know how long this will last. thanks for all help[ |

Scouring can be caused by many things. Are you feeding goats milk, a milk replacer, or cow's milk? Many milk replacers have soy protein and goats don't digest this well. They do better on the recipe found on the articles page under kids and kidding. Feeding small amounts frequently is much better than stuffing them full 2 to 3 times a day. I feed any kids under a week old at least 5 times a day but don't usually let them have quite all they can hold. Gatorade is very high in sugar and this can make scours worse. Pedialyte is better but an electrolyte formula made for livestock is better. There is also a homemade electrolyte formula on the article page. You might try giving kaopectate or pepto bismol to help, but this won't treat the cause. Do not give Immodium this completely stops the movement of the gut (peristalsis). You can give SPectam Scour Halt according to the directions for piglets, in case this is e coli or salmonella. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
