This is probably selenium dificiency. Get some BoSe (a selenium and Vitamin E injectable supplement) from the vet and give 1/4 to 1/2 cc orally or by SQ injection. To help him stand properly and to stretch out the contracted tendons and muscles you can splint his legs using vet wrap and splints cut from a plastic milk jug or coke bottle. Cut the splints out as rectangles rounding off the corners a bit and wrap them onto the backs of the legs. Be sure to go just to the bottom of the hoof not beyond. Leave them for a few days. Be sure he can get up and down and nurse. SOmetimes you just have to splint the lowest joint (fetlock) sometimes all the way up past the knee. If you can't get the BoSe he will probably still recover with just the splints but it will take longer. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
