Yes the Ivomec for Cattle and Swine is the same thing as the plain Ivomec for Cattle (just now labeled for swine too as the recommended dose is now the same for these 2 species). Give 1 cc per 25 pounds orally, be sure to give enough. If you order your meds and supplies through Jeffers or Valley Vet, you will pay ALOT less than at any feed store....and you have the option of using generics which are cheaper still...The feedstore orders from Jeffers or Valley Vet and then increases that price to make a profit. Maggie, Can I use Ivermec for Cattle and Swine? Our tractor supply carries only Ivermec Plus for Cattle only. I picked up a bottle of the Ivermec for Cattle and Swine last night. Can I use it? |

There is a good milk replacer formula on the goatworld articles page under the heading Kids and Kidding. I start deworming at about 8 to 10 weeks old using Ivomec (ivermectin) Injectable for Cattle. Give this orally to goats at 1 cc per 25 pounds. It is very safe even at a huge overdose so give at least 1 cc and be absolutely sure to always give enough. This is a good dewormer for all goats. If this goat is a full male (not neutered) have him neutered at about 10 to 12 weeks old. Bucks DO NOT make good pets. If this is your only goat look into geting him (or her) a playmate. Goats do not like to be alone and do best if they have another goat or 2 as herdmates. Once again DO NOT keep a full male (buck) they are not pets, goats can become fertile at 3 months old (both male and female). Does and wethers (castrated males) make fine pets. Could someone tell me a good formula or milk replacer to feed baby goats and also when I should be worming it?} This is my first goat and I really need some information on how to take good care of this little baby. |

You dosed as for sheep, not enough for goats. You can give the injectable med orally if you like, many authorities say it works best this way for goats. Give 1 cc per 25 to 30 pounds when using the Ivomec injectable for Cattle. Be sure to give enough, it is very safe even at 50 times the recommended dosage. I have had good results using it orally when treating lungworms. |

My goats have previously had lungworms (diagnosed by a vet) and were given Ivermectin subq. A few of them recently started having the same hacking, dry cough as they did then. I was not sure of the dosage, so I did some searching on the internet and went with 1cc per 75 pounds and gave all 5 of my goats the injection subq today. Did I not give enough? My poor goats are really going to be upset with me if I have to give them a second injection! Two of my goats are Pygmies and weigh about 80 pounds. The other three are Nigerian Dwarf/Miniature Long Haired Fainting goat crosses and weigh about 55 to 60 pounds. Four of the five are pregnant does (I couldn't find any info that said not to give Ivermectin during pregnancy and 1 source said it was actually good to give it prior the kidding to prevent the doe from transferring it to the kids). HELP! Do I need to medicate them again? Thanks! |

I have a goat with worms. I was told to buy Ivomec and told to give it in the mouth even though it says to inject in cows or pigs. Can someone tell me how much to give? Thanks. James B |

Give 3 times the cattle dose by weight or at least 1 cc per 30 pounds. It is very safe for all goats, be absolutely sure to give enough. Giving too little is almost worse than not giving any at all. You can go 50 times this dose and do no harm. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
