Switch and feed less, he is getting a gracious plenty! Put him out with the other goats full time so he can learn to eat like a goat and be a goat. My bottle kids live in the barn full time from day 3, and they do much better than one raised in the house. My 2 week old bottle kids are already into the feed and hay. I split 14 ounces between 3 kids 3 to 4 times a day.

I'm feeding 8 to 10 ounces four times a day. I know Pygmys get less, but I figured that with the Lamancha side he would eat more. He probably takes anywhere from 6 to 10 ounces at each feeding. Should I switch to 100% homemade milk replacer (2% milk, evaporated milk and Buttermilk)? I didn't want to shock his system by just switching all at once.

How much is he eating each time and how often are you feeding? Lots of time if it is the amount he is eating. Too much milk gives diarrhea. At this age his moterh would be leaving him a bit hungry so he would try solid food. Alot of powdered milk replacers have alot of fat, sugars and sometimes soy protein that also causes diarrhea. You can give kaopectate to help with the diarrhea, and I would give the Biosol a try. Keep him on the probiotic all through this.

Coocidia takes at least 3 weeks incubation for them to casue a problem, but since he has been on Sulmet we can assume coccidia is not the cause of his dirrhea.

I wanted to add that this a Pygmy/Lamancha cross whose mother had to have a C-section. Mom is doing great and we have "Tweety" in the Laundry room with trips out to the barn to play with the other kids when it's warm enough. I haven't taken him out since the diarrhea started. I read another Post on a kid with scours and it said that with the young kids it probaly wasn't Coccidia. Should I switch him to Bio-Sol? Or is there something else I should try?

I posted on 911 on this and got an answer from Maggie. He isn't doing badly, but his diarrhea isn't getting better either. I have been giving him 2cc Sulmet once a day, B-Complex and a probiotic/vitamin mix for 4 days. I was giving him a milk replacer/2% milk mix, but I've changed that to milk replacer and the milk replacer recipe from Goatworld. I'm going to the all homemade replacer gradually. I have been giving him Pepto off and on just to see if I could get things back to normal. I didn't want to give it to him too often because I couldn't see if the medicine was working.

He is energetic, eating well, but grinds his teeth a lot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
