You can give liquid children's motrin at 1 cc per 10 pounds every 6 hours as needed. If this is a pinched nerve should get better a few weeks or so after she kids. Its fairly common in cattle, not so much in goats, unless the goat is carrying lots of kids or is overweight or both.

You have pretty much done all tht you can. Most goats heal fine. She will learn to deal with the splint.

hi everyone, woke up this morning to our little doe hollering. she got her hoof caught in a slat on our flat bed trailer. as she was trying to pull it out she fell off the trailer and the bone in her leg about 4" above her hoof broke, went thru the skin, and bone and muscle were esposed. she started going into shook. we put her in the car and headed to the vets within 2 min. of it happening. he sedated her, reset the bone, stitched her up, and put her in a major splint and we brought her home. she is hobbling around, now and eating, drinking, pooping and peeing. we have her confind to a small pen outside our backdoor. he has her on penicillin g procaine and metacam. and said if she need more pain medication than metacam to give her tylonol.she can only have 1 dose of metacam/day. vet said her leg should heal fine if there is no infection-just she might hobble for the rest of her life and maybe get arthritis. she is having a hard time laying down because the splint is so major, but so far she is getting around on 3 legs just fine. do you have any other recommendations? has any one heard of a homeopathic or herbal remedy that helps bones heal fast or better.? my biggest concern now is infection, but the vet said if we can keep it dry we should be ok, because we got to him so fast.
