The CMPK tastes terrible and burns a bit too. GIve the magic. SOme of my goats aren't real interested in grain for a day or 2 after kidding. If she is in a small stall you might try letting her and the kid out to walk around some. This helps the guts go back to normal on the doe and helps the kid get his guts goes too (nothing like a good giggling to get things moving!). Give him another enema, put a bit of oil (mineral or vegetable) in the water for the enema to help lube things. GIve him a good belly rub to help stimulate the bowel. You can go ahead and give 3 cc of the CD antitoxin, can't hurt and may help.

Thanks Maggie, I have not seen him poo yet today, although he has peed a few times. The last time only a few minutes ago. So hopefully not dehydrated yet. My vet is gone for the day so it won't be till this evening that I can get the lactated ringers. I do have CD antitoxin on hand, wondering what I should look for as a first sign that he might be headed towards entro? I don't want to wait till he is really sick. He is getting up and moving around, does wag his tail when he is looking for a nipple. But ofcourse he comes to me nuzzling instead of mom. She is a first timer, and not really keeping him clean or anything, does let him nurse and keeps track of him though. I only tube fed him twice, and only 2oz yesterday morning and again last night. Nothing today. If he is peeing, he must be nursing a little. Mom has also been acting a bit depressed, and not real interested in eating, so I started her on cmpk. And have given her some magic. She is a real fighter though, I am afraid of her choking, she fights and screams bad when I try drenching. She is starting to eat her hay pretty good this afternoon. Should I keep giving her the magic, or just the cmpk, unless she stops eating again.

He could still be constipated, the dark yellow poo may have just ben the rest of the meconium. Milk poo is bright yellow. He could also be dehydrated but putting more stuff in his belly just makes him more uncomfortable. You can get Ringer's Lactate fluid from your vet and give 10 to 20 cc under the loose skin over the shoulders to help rehydrate him. His digestive system still isn't running right and he runs the risk of enterotoxemia at this point.

I have a 2 day old that I had to assist a little with birthing. He seems very healthy, but for the first day just kinda stood around looking depressed, I had read about them sometimes being constipated, so after about 12 hrs after birth, I gave him a 10cc warm water enima, sure enough out shot the meconium. Next day seemed better, but still not quite right, not really nursing well. I gave him another enima, got another small amount of meconium. Then a little later, had the dark yellow poo, was a bit runny, but figured it was from the warm water. I also tube fed him a couple of times, just to make sure he was getting something. Temp. is 103. He still seems a bit depressed. He tries to nurse, but only takes a few good sucks then quites. Goes and lays down. Has done a bit of groaning too. Could he still be constapated? Do I give him another enima, is there anything else I should do?
