Could be a bacterial infection called dermatophilus. This is pretty common in damp weather. Try a triple antibiotic ointment on it. A zinc oxide ointment may help too (diaper rash ointment is mostly zinc oxide, it is also antiseptic). Can't hurt and might help. She may have been scratching the bump to cause the bigger lesion. I have a pregnant doe (due to kid Feb. 25th) that got a couple of wart-like bumps around her vulva area a couple of weeks ago. The bumps seemed to have gone down and I thought she was getting better. Then I went out last night and saw that she has a huge (2 in long) lesion where one of the bumps was. It almost looks like the top layer of skin is split open. It was all bloody and swollen. Now it's not bloody, but it is still swollen. She's eating and acting normal. I don't know if I can do anything for her, but I'd like to know what exactly is wrong with her and if there's anything I can do for her. Also, one of my other does had the same type of lesion and wart-like bump a few months ago. Only hers was a lot smaller when I noticed it (when it was bloody), but it healed really quickly. -It was in the same location (vulva area) as the first doe I have questions about. +The buck hasn't been in the pasture with the does for three months. So, any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
