They are getting mixed grass hay and organic alfalfa pellets. Most people won't deliver to me because I'm so small a herd and humid area so can store little fed without going bad. Any dairy feed seen locally has animal by-products. :o( GEtting Purina goat minerals, kelp, and Hoegger's herbal goat tonic with about 10 minutes browse a day. CRISIS over weekend! Thaimine deficiency! Suspect water---very very high sulfur. Crisis started Saturday for us; before that for goat. Found short clip on this link on old magazine Monday. With this we can be in trouble! Everyone is drinking This water! Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Goats refusing local feed! My goats are refusing local feed such as goat chow, etc. And yes, goats can be picky but this goes beyond that. All other feed I can get locally doesn't have copper or has animal by-products which I won't feed. Have have does due in two weeks so I'm in trouble! Or will be soon if I don't find a solution so I do consider this an emergency for my goats sake. Please help. . .not life and death yet, but could be soon I don't get help asap. These are fairly heavy milkers and I can tell twins and plus on the does due. So they and kids will be in trouble if not resolved in short order. I do have some bucks, but my does will be in serious trouble being pregnant without something to help soon. I have found a someone in another state away that will mix organic feed for me. . .but I need a recipe/s. Not something too complex so I can even make it myself if need be. Sorry if wrong posting. . .never used this before and was suggested its usage. .. I desperately need some help. Please help! This will be a crisis if this isn't resolved soon! |

Can you get alfalfa hay? This is all they really need before delivery. Or try a feed made for dairy cattle. Goats were raised on that for years before feed companies started to formulate for goats. And I believe that www.custommilling.com sells a fine goat feed and very good mineral. Even with a well blended feed you will likely need to add a good loose mineral blend. Many people (and goats) are very happy with Golden Blend put out by Custome Milling. To post on most of the other non-emergency forums you need to join Goatworld for 6.00 per year.
