One of my Boer does kidded on the night of the 23. She had one average to small size kid 6lbs. I was a bit surprised but I have been before. So I went in, only as far as my hand length. Since she had just kidded and everything felt normal. There was no feet, nose, tail or second water bag presenting it self. Yesterday she acted a little strange but I couldn't put my finger on it. She was and is eating well and caring for her kid. Today however she is laying around straining for all she is worth. Just as if she is kidding again. So I called the vet. He says "Check her." Obviously!!! He says "Can you feel anything?" Yes a cervix!!! He say "If she is closed up then there are no more kids inside." O.K.... He says "There is probably an irritant causing her to strain." O.K.... So tonight I was really studying her movements and body. She is chewing her cud regularly, breathing evenly and freely. Just like the other does her belly rises and falls with each breath. Unlike some of the does (those nolonger carrying kids) her belly also rolls, jumps, and makes all kinds of unusual movements (like does carrying kids). Is this possible and what should my next step be?}} I can not shake the feeling she is still carrying kid/s. |
