You don't need to it will go down by itself, really! I had a doe that lost both teats and she bagged up each time she kidded (I had to feed the kids of course) and her udder went down in a few weeks all by itself. Just like a doe that loses her kids, she will dry up. Does that only let kids nurse from one side will also dry up on the unused side even if they are completely normal. Milk production is a case of supply and demand. If the milk is not being used the milk producing glands shut off and the unused milk is slowly reabsorbed by the body. You CAN'T release the milk for her. She won't get sick from it. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Maggie sorry i guess i didn't explain that great. Her other nipple is totally gone. And it's filling up with milk. They got the colostrum and they are both sharing the one udder that is working. The other one lost the nipple totally. It's real big and filling. I'm afraid that she will get sick from it. Plus i don't know how to release the milk that is already in it. That is what i need the help on what to do to release the milk in the one udder that has no nipple or opening to get the milk out. |

Dear Linda, Are the kids nursing? Did they get their colostrum? If not try milking some of the milk out and bottle feeding. Kids also don't like to nurse from over full udders and does don't like to let them nurse from overfull sore udders either. Does can raise multiple kids with just one side working. So you will have to milk some out and bottle feed and/or just pull the kids and bottle feed a milk replacer. There is a good recipe on the articles page under the heading Kids and Kidding.
