Hello, For those concerned on this matter, I have checked the settings of the board...a few members that paid the annual membership fee should now have full access. Sorry for the delay and confusion. The other matter is that some of you remember logging in and posting to Goat 411...this was before I required posting to certain areas require membership. The Goat 911 Emergency forum is open to the public...other areas are not. In the past I've had far too many abuses of the free areas and while it was a hard call, please understand that paid membership of $6.00 a year is a very small price to pay to justify funding the entire GoatWorld site. The moderators do a very good job in trying to help however they can for whatever situation, but please know that they also are quick to determine and enforce a ban non-emeregency posting in the emergency area. Please help keep GoatWorld and Goat411 a helpful resource for all that need to use it from time to time. Best regards, Gary Pfalzbot |

Violet, I did as you suggested. Entered as a registered member, but the choice for the non-emergency link was not there. I'll just stop trying. Thanks for your suggestion. |

I forgot to mention to that if you enter as a guest and not a registered member you won't see the non-emergency link, you need to be registered to use all the forum topics. Vi http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/hilltopacres/

Hi guys, I'm not sure where you are going, but how I get around the site is to first bring up the main goatworld page, click the goatword forum link, then enter the forum, log in, that should bring you to the topics page where it has the list of different forum topics, then use the one for non-emergency situations.....Hope this helps with the posting issues.... I, too, have tried posting to 411, but have been unable (although I've been able to in the recent past). I've brought this to the attention of one of the moderators, but the post he linked to me just took me back to the same board where I couldn't find a link to 411. |

I have tried a second time to post this elsewhere on the website and have been given the prompt that I do not have permission to post this message, although I am a registered user and have submitted my annual dues. Sorry. this is the last time that I will bother anyone with this as it is not an emergency, but thought the problem with posting elsewhere should be shared. |

You should be able to post in the non-emergency goat situations forum. There are good books available, and it largely depends on how much medical training and vocabulary you understand. But a good one to start with that isn't too technical is Goat Health Handbook by Thomas R. Thedford, DVM. It is written for use in countries where a real vet is largely unavailable. So it is actually very practical in its advice. See if you can post to the non emergency situations forum to continue this discussion. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I tried to post this on the Goat World chat area but it would not accept this message. This is not an emergency, but it is goat help related. Goat World 911 is terrific. I have learned so much and take notes constantly. I really value and rely on Goat World as a resource. I am feeling so limited in knowledge to provide good care to my babies. We have a herd of 60 Boers, and precentage Boers. Our goat farm is really a farm of 60 pets. These dear creatures are loved and I cry when one is sick or hurting. I feel so inadequate. Most of the veterinarians in our area won't treat goats. I have found one who will, but it seems that he uses his knowledge of cows on goats. I also turn to Goat World and those that I know in the area who also have goats. I have made a book of articles that I have gotten off the Web. This is what I'm doing to care for my dear friend. I need to know more, learn, have more available resources. What books, and websites on goat health are ones to have available. Are there any online courses on goat care? I need something. And I'm sure that I am not the only one in this position. Thanks |
