There is a very good homemade remedy on the articles page under Antidotes. It is for Rhododendron poisoning but works well for most plant poisoning. Watch him closely for the next 12 hours for signs. Moutnain laurel is considered moderately poisonous, goats have to consume about 0.4% of their body weight for it to be toxic. Maybe he didn't eat enough for it to be a problem.

Sandy,
This information comes from www.caf.wvu.edu library/poisonous plants. These are the symptoms that you would see within 6 hours after your goat ate the mountain laurel- incoordination, excessive salivation, vomiting, bloat, weakness, muscular spasms; animals are found down, unable to stand, with their head weaving from side to side. The leaves are particularly poisonous to goats and sheep.
Thank goodness from what you describe your baby is doing OK and may not have eaten enough to have caused him problems.
The treatment that this website recommends is to give mineral oil. Other information that I have says to keep him up and walking to keep him from cudding the leaves. And liquid parafin can also be given.
Hope that this will be helpful.

My young(5 months) pygmy goat ate maybe 3 to 4 Mountain Laurel leaves today. We were walking in the woods and up through the snow popped a branch with a few leaves. He ate them before I knew it. I called the vet, he said there isn't too much to do, perhaps he didn't eat enough. Give him one tbls. of baking soda mixed with two tbls. of water and syringe it down his throat. I did that about 3:00 this afternoon. I've been watching him. He ate his grain at 4:00 and seems ok, but I don't know how long it would take him to get ill. Can anyone give me any info on this.
