First the newborns. My Lamancha doe kidded last night. The buck was head only, no legs so I went in and got one leg out and she delivered. The second was a doe with no problems. Now the buck is walking fine but the doe is having a problem with her back legs. They are going back when she tries to walk instead of forward, so when she takes a step forward with the front her back legs step back. Is there anything I can do to help her get the back end going forward?

Also the doe kids tongue keeps going out the side of her mouth when she tries to nurse. It seems to be a problem cause she loses the teat but she gets it back and nurses for a minute and the tongue works its way back out the side of her mouth and she starts over. Should I worry or leave her alone and let her work it out?

Last question is I have a nine month old Saanen doeling that is pregnant. The Lamancha buck had wings and went over the five foot fence, then the eight foot fence so now we have a ten foot chain link fence and he is staying put. Anyway, she is pregnant and probably due this month because her vagina is bigger and the ligaments are almost non-existant although she is not very big. I felt the baby move so it's okay for now. I've started her on 5cc's of B Complex orally and 5cc's of RedCell. Is the RedCell a good thing to have her on and is the B Complex given orally okay? I don't like to give shots unless absolutely necessary. Am I giving enough of both?

Thanks for the help.

The kid may be selenium deficient. You can give 1/2 cc of BoSe and this will help.

If you felt the kid move on her left side you were feeling the rumen move not a kid. The dosages are fine for the B and the Redcell but I'm not sure exactly why you are giving them.

If the buck or a doe goes visiting again you can give Lutalyse 10 days or later after the accidental breeding to prevent a pregnancy. I like to give another Lutalyse injection about 10 to 15 days after the first just to be sure. I also like to have more than one fence between my bucks and does, they can and will breed through a fence, even chain link, I have the kids to prove it and i've actually seen it done. So if you didn't actually catch him in with the does he may have done it through the fence and will do so again.
