Several of my nannies who kidded 1 - 2 weeks ago are bleeding minimally. I've been told that they need an antiobiotic, such as penicillin.
If so, how much do I give and for how long.

It is normal for the does to have a bloody discharge for 1 to 4 weeks after kidding. Some have a little, some have ALOT. So long as it has little smell, the does have no fever and they are acting normally, they are fine. It is called lochia and is just the left over cellular and fluid from kidding. As the uterus is shrinking it empties itself out. Shaving the long hair off the tail, the back of the udder and the hindlegs really cuts down on the mess (see this website: http://fiascofarm.com/goats/prenatalcare.html). I find giving her tail a spray of PAM cooking spray right after she kids will also make it easier to get the dried "stuff" out of her tail hair. This works for bottle babies too to help keep that sticky milk poop from clinging.
