Sick Doe:
Doe has been off feed for several weeks, treated with LA 200, took to vet a week ago. Lab work showed possible infection, gave PenG 12cc for 9 days. She is still off feed, will stand and walk. Have been drenching with Diaqur (calf electrolyte mixture with dextrose), pepto (now has the runs), probois, and asprin twice a day. Any ideas what to do? How to get her eating again, etc? or what is wrong as lab results and fecal revealed nothing real abnormal that should cause this.
Can she be off feed due to the antibiotics? How long does this normally last. She was nibbling prior to the last several days of PenG. Now she isn't even nibbling. Am concerned she won't last much longer without eating. I now have her in an area with heater at 65 degrees to keep her more comfortable as the barn was getting to freezing level inside. Any ideas appreciated.

Have you treated for worms? Look at her lower inner eyelids, they should be bright rosy pinkish red (very easy to see you shouldn't have to look too closely to see they have good color). If they are pale pink to white she is anemic, likely from worms. I would treat her for worms if she were mine. I would use Ivomec Injectable for Cattle, give 1 cc per 25 pounds for 2 days and repeat in 2 weeks. Give a probiotic for a week or so to help replenish vital digestive microbes. You can give B Complex injectable too to help sooth and heal a damaged gut and encourage appetite.
