I have heard that it's not good to keep goats and chickens together.Does anybody know why? What can the goats get from them. Any info will be great. My friend keep chickens in the barn with her goats, cows and sheep, the chickens get to go everywhere.
Thanks

Many chickens (and other poultry) carry salmonella, and their toilet habits are deplorable. They roost on hay feeders, rafters, feed troughs and even on the goats and poop everywhere. Then they scratch and stir up that poop into a fine dust that settles everywhere and contaminates all surfaces, including the goats. Young kids and old goats are most suseptible to this disease and it can kill quickly.
