What is the proper way of aging a goat by looking at their teeth? I've been told to count the bottom row of teeth and divide by 2?

Nope. The number of front teeth is always the same, there are 4 pairs. The smaller milk teeth are replaced in pairs, starting with the middle two at one pair per year. At about 1 year old the first two fall out and are replaced by larger permanent teeth. So count the pairs of larger permanent teeth and you get the approximate age in years up to about 4 years old. After that it is a guess.
