i have a three yr.old nigerian wether with a skin problem that has been ongoing for some time. vets have tried everything.biopsy sent to univ. of conn. they said could be rain rot or an allergy. have tried every treatment , dips, sprays , shots everything and any thing and nothing has helped him he is in a barn with another goat and he has never come down with the problem so it is not contageous. please if anyone can help please respond!!! thks.

Many skin problems are related to a mineral or vitamin deficiency. What are you feeding and what mineral supplements doe she have access to? I find that alot of skin cruddies are caused by a zinc deficiency and respond well to a zinc oxide ointment (diaper rash ointment) and more zinc in the diet. Hard water can block the absorption of zinc...
