Thanks Maggie. I hope you are right. I'll just let it be and see what happens with time. Theresa |

It is very possible she pinched a nerve. Happens quite a lot in cattle. Chances are it will slowly improve over time. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I have been doctoring one of my girls since the DAY AFTER she kidded for a limp on her back foot. Is there a chance that she may have pulled something or struck a nerve somehow during kidding? She was perfectly fine before and the day of kidding. Noticed the very next day that she was favoring her back leg pretty much. I immediately trimmed (which she really didn't need too badly) soaked her foot in epsom salt for 3 days, and have even tried every other day shots of dexamethasone for a total of 4 times. (I know the usual is only 3 times) I also tried banamine at different intervals than the dex. This has all been over a matter of a 4 week period. She still favors that leg (or foot) She is still acting fine otherwise. She has a healthy appetite, eats, drinks, normal berries, and urination. Goes out with the rest of the herd to graze on decent days. Should I just leave her alone and stop worrying about it so much, and see what comes of it? Or is there something else I should try? The foot does not look swollen or anything. She does put pressure on it, but has the limp. This is why I am wondering if it is possible that a muscle or nerve was damaged during kidding. Thanks, Theresa |
