This is likely an abscess. Sometimes a goat will get a sticker or a thorn in its face as it is browsing thorny brush. It abscesses and eventually bursts, oozing pus until it heals. Mine sometimes get them on the cheek. If the abscess is under the ear it could be a CL abscess. CL, or caseous lymphadenitis is a very contagious, incurable disease that can eventually lead to internal abscesses and death. WE HAVE A GOAT WITH A BUMP ON THE SIDE OF HER FACE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A DIME. YEARS AGO WE HAD ANOTHER GOAT THAT HAD A BUMP ON HER FACE AND IT BUSTED WITH STRINGY SUBSTANCE COMING OUT. IT FINALLY CLEARED UP. WHAT IS THIS, AND HOW DO WE TAKE CARE OF IT IF IT BURTS? THANKS |
