Hi Lisa! I had the exact same troubles with my La Mancha girl Prinny who gave birth to twins boy and girl January 2nd she didn't have mastitis thankfully but her on udder was just HUGE and the milk sack(unaware of the actual term for it)was hard as a rock and like a dork I was trying to milk her like a cow soooo after you make sure she has a teat hole or you clear the way(I used warm water and a wash cloth and it worked like a charm no scraping involved) just wrap your thumb and forefinger around the very top of the teat and start applying pressure the milk will do a dribble and then let's see I think it took about 25-30 seconds before the milk started to stream.....Best of luck and congrats on the new additions |

Lisa Hi we had a few cows that after they gave birth wouldn't milk out so we got teat drainers all you do it buy it wash it and stick it up the teat hole it drains them fast and you can keep the milk for babies! We got them from our Co-op but you can get them at the vet! It also works on very very bad mastitis! Hi Sometimes the teat can be sealed so tight you need to take a gloved finger nail and scratch the sealed tip of the teat off. I that does not work take a teat canalua and insert it into the orfice. If there is no orifice in teat you will need to have the vet check it out. Barbara Howard Capri-Medic jamesa@mrtc.com 606-522-3388 KY

Hi Maggie, we have been trying to milk her and nothing comes out, my husband thinks she has no hole, is that possible? I am still waiting to hear back from the vet, not sure but from reading all day on mastitist could this be that. we have been lucky so far with all the goats we have 8 kids since dec. 25th, and they are all great moms, and abby wants to be also. but i have been bottle feeding her two. realy dont know what to do? |

Milk some out so the teat and udder isn't as swollen. A kid can learn to suck almost anything. Lots of those extra teats do not have an orifice 9opening) so no milk comes from them. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

my abby gave birth on 1-23-07 she had twins boy & girl, looked like an easy birth 20 minutes and 2 kids later. my concern is her bag is so full, and one teat is so large it looks like a mans forarm, she has a little teat next to the the big one, are the kids able to get any milk out of this? I am waiting on a call from the vet. any help would be great. thanks for all you do!! lisa |
