Waiting a month would be good. Of course if your summers are very hot, having kids in the brutal summer heat can be hard on them. Kids concieved in February will be born in July...

Thank you, I did all of this, and Baby is doing fine this morning. Her udders are soft, and not full, the redness has passed and she is now standing outside the buck fence acting like she is interested in him. How long do I have to wait to let her get pregnant again? She would feel better and more fullfilled if she was carrying a kid again, right? It has been four weeks since she gave birth. I think she should wait at least another month but is it ok after that? I did not plan on having my mamas kid more then once a year but in this case, I want to make an exception.

Catch her up and milk her half way out out daily for a week. this will reduce production, giving erh some relief and start her drying off. Cut her grain ration out entirely over this time. This too will help her dry up. If you do nothing she will also dry up, just not as quickly. It is the back pressure from the bagged up milk on the milk producing glands that makes them stop producing. It just takes a good while for the body to reabsorb the milk.

My doe lost her only baby to a bad disbudding job by the vet. Her udders are so full and red. She will not let me touch her. What can I do for her? It has been two days.
