That's funny because my little Jett loves the berry flavored motrin too! I just put the syringe by ham and he smells it. He'll sit there and suck it down. It's nice to not have a fight. I think he'd sit there and drink the whole bottle if I let him. :-)

Just an update. I gave her a tetanus shot and started her on the liquid Motrin and Penicillin. It took about 3 days until she would use the lame foot at all(before that, she did this crazy hop thing to avoid all contact with it). Today she was putting more weight on it and jumping up on things.

She actually liked the liquid Motrin! They have it in all these flavors and I picked berry thinking that that was most like goat food. After her penicillin shot she would wait around for the motrin. Funny!

Thanks again. I feel like she's pretty much back to normal. Jaye

Do not use the copper tox it is only for hoof rat and can damage the tissue in an open wound. Do give her a tetanus shot and start her on antibiotics, penicillin (1 cc per 15 pounds 2 x day by SQ injection) or oxytet (LA 200 at 1 cc per 30 pounds 1 x day by SQ injection) is good. You may want to bandage the foot to keep dirt out of the wound too. You can give banamine (0.1 cc per 10 pounds by SQ injection once a day) or Liquid Childrens Motrin (1 cc per 10 pounds every 6 hours) for pain.

Soaking in epsom salts or even just cold water will help reduce swelling.

I saw that one of my does was limping pretty badly and looked at her foot to find a nail stuck about an inch into the frog. I pulled it out. She seems fine so far except for not using that foot at all. I can imagine it's pretty painful.

Is there something to give her for pain. Also, should I give her a tetanus booster or antibiotics?
