The current recommendations is that vaccinating before 8 to 10 weeks is only very minimally effective. I would go ahead and band WITHOUT giving the tetanus antitoxin if doing it after the first vaccine. The tetanus vaccine part is much more effective after the initial shot than the C/D part, but all of them work better if boostered 1 or 2 times. I have heard the antitoxin can negate the toxoid (vaccine).

Does anyone know what age is too early to give the first C/D T shot to a kid?

Also, when banding between the first C/D T shot and the booster, is the Tetanus antitoxin shot still necessary or does it somehow negate the toxoid?
