I have heard this happen with donkeys when a doe has kids she gives calls to them that a donkey would think is a help call so they go over and take care of it (killing the kid) After that you need to get rid of them or they can and will attack your whole herd of kids!!! |

Yes I have heard ponies, horses, donkeys and mules can sometimes be aggressive to the point of killing goats. I had one of my mares pick a goat up and toss him, breaking his shoulder. After that the horses had their own space and the goats had theirs. It can happen at any time even when the animals have lived together for a while. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I did not know where to post this? The paster my landlords goats are there is a pony and a horse. The goats and pony and horse have been together all summer on and off, for about 1 year. The pony attack and killed one of the smaller goats. It was seen by a person walking her dogs. She explained it the pony picked up the goat and threw her in the air. When my landlord and I got there no more than couple min. later the pony was bitting the goat and pulling at the goat, I tryed to get the pony to let her alone the pony was aggretive and I did not want to get myself hurt, my landlord was on a 4 wheeler tryed to get the pony and horse into another paster, the pony started chasing the other goats around bitting a nd kicking at them, the pony would get between them and the gate the goats could go in.This was not in a playing manor it was to hurt another animal, the horse did not chase any of the goats. My children and I feed the goats and now I do not know what to do? I do not want to have to deal with that again, something I have never seen in my life.It wasent like the goat was threating the pony. Sorry about the spelling, and the in detailed post. I just wanted to know if anyone heard of this? The pony and horse are goiong to be removed soon by the owner of the animals. Thank You, |
