She obviously had some sort of infection (the high fever indicates that), very likely pneumonia. Vitamin B can make the urine smell very strange (smell the B Complex and see if that smells anything like the smell she had). I am not sure what the bugs may have been, lice are nearly microscopic, smaller than a pin head. If these were lice they didn't kill her some sort of infection did. Pneumonia can kill very fast, penicillin and oxytetracycline are not very effective for most pneumonia now. All antibiotics take at least 24 hours to have any effect. Maggie, I had an older doe, about 8yrs old, that was bred about a month ago. Went out to feed the other morning, and she seemed a bit depressed. She was still eating but not quite as agressively as usual, so I gave her 5cc of fortified vit b complex. By evening feeding she was standing off by herself, and had no interest in food. I penned her up by herself, gave her another 5cc fortified b complex, and then took her temp. It was 105.9. I then gave her 10cc pen. and 2cc banimine. Next morning Temp was 100.7. I tried everything to keep her warm, but the temp just kept dropping, it got down to 94.5 I managed to bring it back up to about 97, but she died that evening around 5. What really got me was that when I would take her temp, there was a weird chemical smell coming from her rear. I was wondering if you had ever heard of that, or maybe what had caused her to die so quickly. Oh and I also gave her C&D antitoxin 20cc and poly serum 6cc. Her eye lid color was bright pink. Also we didn't get the body buried last night, and this morning she had a bunch of little brown bugs all over her nose and upper lip, would these be lice, and if so does that mean she had lice before she died? Could they have caused her death so quickly? Thanks so much http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/hilltopacres/
