You can bring him inside, put a heating pad on him. Or run a blanket in teh dryer until it is warm and use that. Give him warm water with molasses, pancake syrup or corn syrup in it to help give him some energy (about 1/4 to 1/3 cup in 2 quarts of water or so, with molasses it will look like strong iced tea...). He is too weak and in shock to produce his own body temperature you have to get him warmed up and give him some energy to produce body heat. A goat should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a way to get in out of the weather. Their coat does not shed water like a cow or horse. Watch for respiratory illness (pneumonia) for the next 2 weeks. There is a saying among goat owners, a wet goat is a dead goat. |
