Could be an insect bites or stings such as getting stung by multiple wasps or bees. In which case Benedryl may help. Use 1 cc per 10 pounds every 4 to 6 hours as needed.

If the swelling feels fluid filled it could be a serious infection caused by clostridium novyi. The tissues are filled with a yellow fluid. This would need to be opened to allow air in to kill the anaerobic bacteria and treated aggressively with antibiotics. If it feels crackly like it has bubbles under the skin this is also a clostridial infection and needs to be aggressively treated. Either clostridial infection needs the care of a skilled vet.

The clostridial infections will spread and are most often fatal if not treated. You might want to start giving penicillin at 1 cc per 15 pounds twice a day and contact your vet.

We have a Buckling 3months old. His entire head is swollen like a basketball. He was recently wormed and has good eyelid and gum color. He is otherwise fine. In the pen where we have him there are 9 other bucklings they are all about the same size. They are given alfalfa/grass hay mix and kid creep goat feed and mineral free choice. Nothing has changed over the past two weeks except his head is huge. Any suggestions??? Thanks
