Yes betadine is used in hospitals. Betadine is a brand name, generically it is called gentle iodine. I didn't say why I recommended diaper rash ointment though. Many skin infections are related to a zinc deficiency. Diaper rash ointment is mostly zinc ozide. It is antiseptic as well and being soothing and can help if the problem is a slight zinc deficiency. it is okay to "mix and match". Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Thank you very much. I really appreciate everyone here for all the kindness they give. I will try some Betadine on her tomorrow. ( Betadine is used in hospitals right?) |

Ringworm is a fungus infection, not an actual worm. Iodine (Betadine is better because it is more gentle to the skin) applied to the area usually clears it up in a week or 2. You might also apply an antibiotic ointment and/or diaper rash ointment. Sometimes a goat gets a secondary bacterial infection in the same place. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Is there anyone that knows how to treat ringworms? I have a doe that my vet told me had ringworms and to trear her with iodine for one week. I did but she is getting worse. I will attach a pic of her nose.} |
